Milton Derr - Biography
Milton Derr was born in Milwaukee Wisconsin in 1932. He studied at  the Layton School of Art, Minneapolis Institute of Art, and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. where he also served  on the faculty for many years. In addition, he has taught at Tufts University. Mr. Derr studied independently in Tokyo, Japan from 1954-1956  and from there he studied  with George Demtrios, 1956-1960. Milton Derr was then rewarded a traveling fellowship to Japan in 1961. Milton has had major exhibitions at Studio Museum in Harlem, the Copley Society, and the Museum of Fine Arts  in Boston. Milton Derr is a  Master painter, illustrator, book designer,  printmaker,  and educator, he has illustrated  numerous book and is in many collections including the Oakland California Museum, Bentley College, Waltham, MA  University of Vermont, Putney, and the Museum of the National Center of African American Artist.
