The sister event to Switzerland's Art Basel, Art Basel Miami Beach claims to be the biggest contemporary art event in the United States. Over 250 leading galleries bring their paintings, drawings, sculptures and more to the Miami Beach Convention Center. Also bringing together installations, photography, video, multimedia art and performances, works by hundreds of artists are exhibited by galleries from Europe, America, Asia and Australia.
The display spans the broad sweep from masters of classical modern art to protagonists of contemporary art, including raw new talent. A programme of art in public places rounds out the schedule.

The stacked box architecture of the New Museum makes an astonishing landmark within which to hold New York City's only museum exclusively devoted to presenting contemporary art from around the world. It hosts numerous exhibitions of under-recognised artists.

Founded in 1977 by Marcia Tucker, the museum was awarded a grant in 2005 which enabled it to construct new premises that rank alongside some of New York City's most spectacular landmarks. The greatly expanded premises enable the New Museum to concentrate on their mission of bringing the public "new art, new ideas".
